I spent the next two weeks exploring potential project ideas. In particular, I spent a lot of time seeking out anemones and moray eels, but I found a lot of cool things on the way.
Surveying dens for my eel monitoring project in 2014
Yellowmargin Moray Eel (Gymnothorax flavimarginatus)
(safely) reaching new depths while freediving (time is cumulative time spent underwater- can’t quite hold my breath that long!)
eight-foot long giant moray (Gymnothorax javanicus) swimming
juvenile giant moray hiding in coral rubble
I went to do some diving with the CSU Northridge Ocean Acidification group, installing a coral garden on the southwest shore of Mo’orea.
