Blue Ringed Octopus

My research advisor, Roy Caldwell, put me in charge of the three blue ring octopuses in our lab while he went on a trip. The bite of these small animals (mantle size about 1 centimeter) can be fatal. Their name, the Greater Blue-Ringed Octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata), may be misleading because they are so small. However, the size distinction refers to the relative ring size, not the size of the animal.
